How to Play

Snaples is a game in which players place bids and pick trumps in an attempt to win tricks and lower their score from sixteen to zero.

The best way to learn Snarples is first to play a game in learning mode. Select the Off-Line option, then select the Learning game. The game will populate four players (three app-nerds, aka bots and yourself). During this game, you can pause at any time, see the app-nerds cards. This game does not affect your Snepts balance. However, the results of learning mode games do not contribute to your position on the leaderboard.

Here is a list of some of the points of Snarples:

  • All players start with sixteen points.
  • The first player to reach zero points wins the game.
  • If a player reaches thirty-three points, they lose the game.
  • Each trick won is worth minus one point.
  • The player who plays the highest card wins the trick.
  • The player who wins the trick leads the first card for the next trick.
  • Players must follow the suit of the first card lead. But, if a player does not have a card in their hand with that suit, they may play any other card in their hand.
  • The high bidder picks trump.
  • The high bidder must win at least their bid amount of tricks of they will be punted.
  • Players who are not the high bidder but decide to play the trick must win at least one trick or be punted.
  • If all players sit out for the trick, the high bidder will have the option to punt all other players or do down minus five points on their score.
  • Players may only sit out two rounds in a row; they must play the next round.
  • If a player sits out with a score of three or less, plus one point is added to their score.
  • If Spades are declared trump, everyone must play.
  • If a player wins all five tricks when Spades is trump, they win the game with Spade Out.
